November Wrap-Up

This month was a slow one for me! I barely got any reading done. Between a major project at work, homework that I needed to focus on, and books I had on hold coming up unexpectedly to distract me, I didn’t meet the goals I wanted to meet. Still, I did finish at least a couple books, and that’s really what matters.

Favorite Book of the Month:

This book was such a fascinating read! I learned so much about the history of the creation of North Korea, how it developed into the dictatorship it is today, how it’s government basically put it’s own wants above those of its people (spending money on developing nuclear weapons rather than feeding its own people), how socialism doesn’t really work in practice. I really enjoyed seeing North Korea from the eyes of those who lived there. The author follows a range of defectors and tells their story from birth to their defection. It’s a great book and my review will be coming soon!

Least Favorite Book of the Month:

This book…was not what I was expecting it to be. I could never fully grasp what was going on, how much was real and how much was just…mystical talking from the narrator. Either way, the writing was definitely good, but the story…really didn’t make much sense to me and I never really got a good picture of what this futuristic society was really like. I didn’t really dis-like the book, I just didn’t love it. My review will be coming soon.

How about you?
