“It’s your favorite scary movie, remember?” | Friday Face-Off

Friday Face-off is a weekly meme created by Books by Proxy and now hosted by Lynn’s Book Blog that focuses on book covers.

The rules…

Each week, following a predetermined theme, click here to see the list of themes for 2019, choose a book, compare a couple of the different covers available for that particular book and choose your favorite.

This week is special, since there’s no specific theme – it’s a freebie. I thought I might just not post today, but then…I thought of the perfect book to use. I hope you guys like it!

This week’s theme:

“It’s your favorite scary movie, remember? He had on the white mask, he stalked the babysitters,” – Scream (1996)

 A cover featuring a scream

I’ve never seen Scream and I don’t watch horror movies, but I figured I’d give this week’s prompt a try. I don’t read many scary books, either, but I have at least one book that fits this prompt! I actually enjoyed this book the first time I read it, even though it was probably the first scary book I ever read.

My book choice: Jade Green by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor

I’m not surprised there weren’t a whole lot of book covers for this one. It wasn’t a huge splash when it published and I’m sure it wasn’t translated into many languages. Still, since there’s at least two, I can use it!

My Favorite:

I have to go with this cover because it’s the one I’m used to. I think it’s generally an okay cover. The blurriness is not my favorite thing, but this book has a lot of nostalgia for me, so I don’t mind it too much.

Thoughts & Thanks

Which is your favorite? Do you agree with my choice? Let’s talk about it in the comments!
