Top 5 Saturdays is a series brought about by Mandy @ Devouring Books and I’ve been tagged by Leelynn @ Sometimes Leelynn Reads to post my top 5 Psychological Thrillers that I want to read. If you want to see the schedule of Top 5 Saturday prompts, check out the link for Mandy!
Now, I’m a pretty big psychological thriller fan. I have read plenty of murder mystery and psychological thrillers and I am always on the look out for another author or series to start in this genre. I’m going to push the topic a bit and include murder mystery thrillers, as well as psychological thrillers, since I think there’s a fine line between both. Only picking five will be the hard part, but I’ll give it a try:
The Hunting Party is being marketed to fans of Ruth Ware and Tana French, both authors whose books I want to read. So I figured this book was a pretty safe bet for me. It’s about a group of friends who come together over Christmas break to celebrate New Years’ together. They all go stay an an isolated estate in the Scottish Highlands (awesome!) and then, on New Years Day, one of them dies…One of them is the murderer. I’m so ready. I’m planning on saving this for December/January this year because I am too excited about it!
Final Girls is the first written by Sager and I am definitely here for it! I read The Last Time I Lied and it was so chilling and interesting! I definitely didn’t see the end coming. I am intrigued by the premise of this book – a group of people who have survived massacres and now they’re slowly getting picked off one by one, years later. It sounds very chilling and the story itself will probably be full of twists that I won’t be expecting. Color me intrigued!
Then She Was Gone was recently recommended to me by a friend, who also rated it 5/5 stars. It’s about a mother who’s daughter went missing ten years ago and her new relationship with a man and his family brings back old memories of her daughter, causing her to renew her search for her missing girl. I love a good missing-persons case and this one sounds like it will be full of intrigue and amateur sleuthing. Love!
Bonfire is Krysten Ritter’s first novel! It’s about an environmental lawyer who has to return to her small town for a case. When her investigation starts feeling very connected to a case that happened ten years ago that involves a missing person, she then finds herself embroiled in solving an even bigger mystery. I’m excited to see Ritter’s writing style. I know she’s a good actor, but not every actor can write. I hope this book is good, since I’ve already purchased a copy. Still, I’m looking forward to reading it!
In a Dark, Dark Wood actually came out before The Death of Mrs. Westaway, but all I hear about is the latter. Well, I think the premise of this book sounds just as interesting and I went ahead and bought a copy of it as sort of an airplane read/beach read. I have yet to get to it, but I’m itching to put it on my October reading list. It’s about a woman who hasn’t seen her friend in ten years but all of a sudden, she’s invited to her bachelorette party…and scary stuff starts happening. My body is ready.
Thoughts, Thanks, and Tagged:
This was such a fun list to put together! There are a couple of books on here that I’d totally forgotten about. They’ve been languishing on my TBR for too long! Hopefully I can get to them sometime this year, because they all sound so good!
Thank you so much for reading this post! If you like this, check out some of my other content! Let’s chat in the comments! Are any of my books listed on your TBR? Have you already read any of these? What did you think? What do you think of the psychological thriller genre?
And tagging…boy, I’m so bad at tagging people! I’m still new to the whole blogging thing, and I’m still getting to know so many amazing bloggers. If you read this post and feel like you want to do it, please consider yourself tagged! Ping back to me so I can see your list!
