April is here, spring is here!!! I did fairly well in keeping with my reading goals last month, so I’m pretty proud of myself!
This month, I’m planning on focusing mostly on the Read Harder Challenge, but I still want to include at least one book for the Reading Women challenge – plus there are a few TBR books I want to get to (finally!), and, as always, there are a few ARCs that I need to get to, as well. Let’s see what we’ve got coming up!
Book Riot’s Read Harder Challenge Books:
The Man in the High Castle – Philip K. Dick: I’ve been wanting to read this boo for a while so that I can watch the T.V. adaptation. I’m reading this for Book Riot’s “Alternate History” requirement. I hope I enjoy it – I like Philip K. Dick’s other works, so I have high hopes!
Home Fire – Kamila Shamsie: This one is one of my double-ups: it counts for Book Riot and also for Reading Women. I’ve heard really good things about it and I can’t wait to read it, since I’ve read a bit of Shamsie’s writing in Emma Watson’s book club selection from the first month this year (The Things I Would Tell You).
Whale Rider – Witi Ihimaera: So, this one’s a roll over from last month. My library lost their only copy and so I had to seek a copy out from a different library and for some reason it took them weeks to deliver it, so I only just picked it up. So I’ll be reading it this month!
Reading Women Challenge:
Home Fire – Kamila Shamsie: As I said above, this book counts for both Book Riot and Reading Women challenges.
Hidden Figures – Margot Lee Shetterly: I recently acquired the audiobook for this, so I want to get into it for this month. I’m looking forward to it, because I saw the movie and I’ve been wanting to read the book because I’m sure it’s packed with even more information about these amazing women then the movie.
ARCs of the Month:
The Bride Test – Helen Hoang: Super, super excited for this one! I loved The Kiss Quotient, so I’m hoping to love this book as well. I’m very pleased to have been given the ARC for this book!
The Unhoneymooners – Christina Lauren: Another example of an author who’s book I just read and loved! I read Josh & Hazel and knew that I had to read more Christina Lauren. Really looking forward to read this book.
Again, But Better – Christine Riccio: This book sounds like it could be super cute! I’m digging that its a new adult situation, which is hard to come across. Hopefully, I fall in love with this book!
My TBR Picks:
The Queen’s Shadow – E. K. Johnston: I have read a book by Johnston before, but I was mainly excited to read this book because I love Queen Amidala. I’m really curious to dig into this book, because I’ve never read any Star Wars novels before (aside from the Jedi Academy books by Jeff Brown).
Marvel 1602 – Neil Gaiman: Confession – I had no idea this comic existed until just last year when I picked it up at an airport. Yeah. I love Neil Gaiman and I love Marvel and I can’t believe I didn’t know this book was in the world and now I can’t wait to crack it open!
Thanks a Lot Mr. Kibblewhite – Roger Daltrey: I was obsessed with The Who when I was younger and they’re still one of my all time favorite bands. Roger Daltrey is my favorite and I’m looking forward to reading a bit more about his life and personal experiences.
What books are you reading this month?
If you’ve read any books from my list, let me know what you think! Do you have any of these selections on your TBR? Let me know in the comments!
It’s another month of reading dangerously and I hope I’m up to the challenge!
